Email not sending

So, since forever my email alerts have been sending fine.

Now, they no longer work. I checked the email server settings and even changed the address. I select test email and hit submit and nothing.

Is there an error log to see what may be happening?

I only have one account/server that I can use the smtp server for, is there a free mail service that I can get that will let me use the SMTP?

Also, this happened around the time I updated the firmware, but I could swear it worked fine after the update.

Another strange anomaly that may or may not be related is that my Apex will go offline from the network sometimes (once every 5-9 days) and then the only way to bring it back is a Restart. resetting the wireless bridge doesnt work, only a restart from the network menu.

In fact, it just happened again after monkeying around in the email settings.

I've had the same problem and just gave up. I turned off the email alerts because it was causing my apex to go offline and the only way to get it back online again is to unplug it and start it up again. There are a couple of free mail service accounts you can set up. If you check the user manual both official and unofficial manuals, they will give you suggestions on service providers. I will tag along to see if you are able to get this figured out.

Check to make sure your ISP and/or your email provider didn't change any of their settings. I recently had to change some settings on my phone because my provider started blocking port 25.

Effin, you are spot on!

Unfortunately for some reason I did not get a post notification from your post and I ended up figuring this out on my own.

My hosting provider for my sites (including www.utmas.com) is what I use for the email SMTP and it was fine for the longest time using 25, I guess now they are not. I changed it to 587 and voila!

Although this fixed my issue, I would say that the email section of the Apex needs some work for both error reporting, testing of emails, and gracefully exiting with these errors. I am pretty sure this is what was taking down the Apex connectivity from time to time because it would happen when I tried to do an email test when it was set to port 25.

Chalk another up for the Apex community - GO NEPTUNE!
