Emerald crab

mine usually hang out on the live rock and let algea grow on their backs. I had this patch of Green hair algea and whn I went to pluck it off the rock it was attached to one of my emerald crabs !

i found a real easy way to get them things...when they hide inside a rock thats fairly smalll and easy to remove, just remove the rock while its stuck inside....thats what i would try if i couldnt get mine out, they like to hide inside rocks or hang from them, im sure he'll find a small enough rock to cling to for ya...

I have never had any trouble with mine ,but had one crawl into a soda bottle trap when I was trying to get something else.

curious, why do you need to remove him? they are handy with algae and pretty harmless IME when there isn't any?

Use a bottle or glass container and tilt it so his feet will slip once he tries to climb out.

I used the famous soda bottle trap (cut off the top of a plastic soda or water bottle, then stick it in backwards). Caught an emerald crab, plus about every other mobile invert in my tank that way. Just bait it with some silversides, or something...

I have 5 emerald crabs in my 180. One killed my under weight powder blue tang and they also eat half of the porties on my christmas tree worm rock. going to be getting rid of them real soon!!
