emerald crabs

All crabs are optutunisic feeders. They will eat anything if they are hungry. They are scavengers, and predators. They will kill a fish if its vulnerable, and eat any leftover food. If hungry enough they will sample/eat a coral, even if it taste bad. But judging by how much people like to feed things in their tanks, I would say you will have enough leftover food for it to scavange.

Fwiw, I dont like crabs for those reasons. Shrimps, like cleaner ones are a better choice imo. :)

i have 2 in my 75g. like boxfishpooalot said, they are optutunisic feeders. personally i feed my crabs a small peice of algae strip about once every 2-3 days. mine have never bothered a healthy coral, fish, or snail. they have ate all the bubble algae, and other algae from my live rock. they are very interested to watch as well.

Can they kill eachother?

Three out of five of my emerald crabs died. However, the two that are in my aquarium right now are pretty healthy.

As soon as I put one of the crabs inside, one of my snails came up from the sand, slimed its way over to him and attacked him. That was the first crab to die.

I'm also wondering if my electric blue crab has been killing them. He's about five times the size of them.

they will fight with themselves if your tank is to small. what kind of snail attacked your crab? sounds like he may have been dieing to start with. i dont have any experiences with an electric blue crab (hermit i assume). but i know they can be aggresive. if its hungry then its highly possible that it would kill something for a meal. what size tank do you have?
