Emerald Mithrax Crabs

Hey Everybody,

Looking for opinions on keeping an emerald mitrax crab. I currently have about 10 snails and 6 hermits along with 4 fish(2 bang card, 1 false perc, and a neon db). My goal is to get a softie reef started in the next few months and was wondering on it being so-called "reef safe." Anyone had much experience with them and let me know your opinion.

they shouldnt be a real problem but just keep an eye on him just incase

I don't have any experiences with the dottybacks (e.x. not sure if they will pick at crabs) but I have owned them, and they are great scavengers, and eat the pesky bubble algae. The only downside is that if you have a lot of LR, you may never see them, except only at night w/ moon lights

i wouldnt get one of those little bastards. mine is big now and hes posing as a huge threat to my yellow watchman goby. first time he actually pinched the goby on his side and took out a chunk of skin. second time he pierced right through his dorsal fin and tried ripping it off.

poor goby was in pain and shocked that the crab did that, that he just froze. i really thought the ywg was dead for a minute since he didnt respond. just had his mouth opened. when i catch that bastard crab hell be gone asap

oh yeah, btw this guy gets fed. its not like i just let him find his own food

I have had one for four months now and he is very well behaved.

Mine was very well behaved, until it decided to pop all the polyps off my rock.

Had one and it grew huge and terrorized everything including corals! I would not get one again.
