Sorry I posted this in 2 differnt places but I am looking to get some awnser fairly quickly.
I had my flame angel in a QT with cuparime for 4 days, his eating slowed and he developed what apeared to be a cut. Well this morning the cut is worse and he started to lay down on the bottom of the tank, a water test revealed a good bit of ammonia and nitrite and I feared I was loosing him fast. with no water to do a water change I scooped him up and placed him in the display tank and he seemed to perk up some what. What do I do? I know QT's require alot of water changes but this spike happend over night it seemed. I don't want him to get ich again and I fear the cut on his side will get infected....HELP!

That is from a few hours ago

You probably did the right think by putting him back in the main tank.

But having him in a QT tank with no biological filtration (b/c of the copper) without water on hand was a big mistake.

I would get him Out of your display before he infects everyone else.
Do a total water change on the QT, put him back in there, and do a 25% change daily, or at least every 2 days, on the tank while he is in there. If you dont have RO its not a big deal- use tap. Its better to have whatever minor impurities are in the tap water thanto have him sitting in Ammonia and Nitrite.

Its difficult to see exactly what the issue is with him, but keep in mind that angels can be Very sensitive to copper. It appears at first glance that the issue is more bacteria than protozoal/parasitic, which copper woulnt be particularly effective on anyhow. Might want to try running an antibiotic in there for him. If youre concerned about Ich, use something more like Rid-Ich that isnt a copper-based med. Ive had a much higher success rate with that.

How long has your QT tank been set up? What all do you have in your QT (liverock, sand, etc.) and what kind of filtration does it have (wet-dry, skimmer, etc.)?

I doubt you'd have any LR in there but I'm just trying to get a handle on what caused the nitrite and ammonia spike.

QT is a 10 gallon with a penguin 100 with the bio wheel soaked in my fuge for a few months. bare bottom with a teracotta pot for cover. I've been trying to feed him but the fod ussaly just sits in the tank. He is still in the display and is in bad shape, keeps going into a cave and laying down. I tried to target feed him with some garlic soaked mysis and I think he ate one of them. I don't think he will make it through the day, although I do hope he does :(

Whats weird is my pygmy angel fish had a wound EXACTLY like that 3 weeks ago when it died. Almost looks like some thing ate it from the inside out

Sorry about the loss. It looks to me like the sore was a bacterial infection. If you see something like that again, you can take the fish out of the water and dab some iodine on the wound. The fish shouldn't be kept out of the water for more than 30 seconds. That said, the bacterial infection seemed to be a secondary illness which means that even if you had given the fish quick effective treatment it probably would have only partially solved the problem. Its a tough loss. A beautiful fish. Stick with the hobby, though. Experience is a reward in itself in this game.
