hi , over the years i have seen people keeping this fish together.
i would love to try this . if you have had this expierence please give me advise.

thanks so much

Hi again....one of my friends who is a member of RC too has a queen and an emp in his 210 gallon. They seem to be ok together, i havent witnessed any fights between them. PM him his name is Emperor911 or Emperior911 i forget. Maybe he can give you some more insight.

You need a good size tank to keep them together as both are aggressive and get very large, specially the Queen. If you can supply a large tank try getting them at different sizes and you should be ok but one will mostly be in charge and I'm betting on the Queen.

thanks everyone!! i have a 260 gallon with a very small adult emp . infact i would say its the smallest adult emp i have ever seen. its about 2.5 inches. ( with complete adult colors.) should i get a juv. queen ?

Get the Queen at a large size that way there shouldn't be able problem between them. If you get a small Juv Queen their sizes maybe some what close and they may cause them to fight.

Those are 2 really nice fish. Good luck and show some pics when you get a chance. There is a guy who posts from time to time who has had a couple of queens and an emperor who might be able to help. His name is hdtvguy and he justed posted a couple of days ago. Go back a couple of days on this forum and you should be able to find him and ask him some questions.

hdtvguy has the most beautiful tank ive ever seen, its a 300 gallon with starfire front glass. check out the thread in the fishonly section

I found with all my Angels is the size difference really matters when mixing them. I have a small juvi queen with my emp, french, and goldflake and they do not bother it at all. You can see pics of my fish just click the "little read house" above. Best of luck with the new queen they are great fish.

hdtvguy do you have 2 of the same kind?
I have a Goldflake and would like to add another but larger do you think its a bad Idea?

OOOHHH MMYYYY!!!! very very nice. thanks ssoooo much!!!! i have not bought the queen yet.. i have an vry sm 2.5 inch full adult emp. what size queen would you recommend?
thanks

I would try and get the Queen atleast about twice the size of the Emperor, which will be easy if your looking at an adult size but hardier to find in a Juv size. Any thing smaller and you may have problems as both, the Queen and Emperor, are aggressive. There probably will be some aggression toward each other in the beginning but with the size difference it shouldn't be a problem for long. One will be in charge and the other will stay out of it way. That's how it is in my tank.

Considering it usually hard to find a Goldflake that is doing well and eating to begin with I think you should be happy to have just the one. ;) That being said a 180gal is probably on the small size to keep two together unless you can get a pair and even then there is no telling if you going to have a problem with them fighting. In general unless it's the pygmy angels, and you can get a pair or a small hurum, it's better to not put in the same angels unless the tank is very large or the size difference of the angel is very great. Also if you have a lot of angels in the tank you can get away with putting in more than one of the same angel and there is enough angel to keep the fish busy and not pick on the one angel.,

One thing I do remember hearing from hdtvguy and some others is don't get the queen to big. The more adult ones have a hard time learning to feed on prepared foods. They are stuck on eating sponges from the wild so they don't learn to eat and starve to death. The juvy's can learn to eat and are a much better choice for long term success.

This isn't true at all as Queens eat anything and are one of the hardiest angel around. Large one in the wild actually follow around the fishing boats looking for food. The one thing that you need to watch is that Queens angels are ich magnets and need to be quaratined before you place on in our tank.

i have a large queen and emperor, the queen was actually added fish but the emperor rules the tank. He grunts so loud that all the fish get scared of him

actually, i've had many ich outbreaks in my tank. Queen has never got it. Emperor has, not the queen. Queen is very hardy
