Emperor Angelfish?

I have found that a lot of people have asked about if this fish can go in reefs, some say no and yes and I saw a user named Gary have a amazing set up with one in his tank so this leads me to believe you can keep them in reefs under certain conditions, but i still have questions as im new to saltwater.

What corals CANNOT be kept with this fish? As in they have seen or know of an emperor eating this coral. I want to know my options with this fish lol. I wanted to grow easier types of corals like zoas, frogspawn and star polyps and i want a large RBTA with clowns. Any of those off limits for sure? lol thanks for any help!

There are more than one reefer here that has Emperor's in their reef's without issue of them eating any corals. You would do better to ask this in the large tank forum. It would help you as well to read some of their long threads.

While it is true that you can get lucky with big angels, the best mindset of going into owning one is to be willing to sacrifice corals to keep them. By that I mean only keep corals it leaves alone.

Ironically, the easier corals are often food for large angels. Large angels also need large tanks.

I agree with this.

SPS corals, which is what I keep are sometimes safer than LPS, but you never know with angels. I've had to remove a griffis and a flame, while my others are o.k. with my corals

My Cherub Angel eats SPS like it's candy and won't touch any of my LPS or softies,but pick on rocks and algae. I had only 3 SPS when I got him as my experiment to see if I could keep true mixed reef. Well I could,,, until there was "Flash" Ya Flash fits him for a name
