I recently bought an adult Emperor about 6 inches long, and had him for maybe 5 days now. He looks plump and acts healthy, does not breathe fast or shimmy but he has developed ich spots. None of the other fish in my 240 gallon have any spots. I know I should have quarentined the fish, but I was afraid of putting this big fish in a relatively small QT tank with no mature biofilter, and figured the stress and amonia would have been worse.
My questions are, do you think that since he acts so healthy that his own immunity can kick in and beat the ich? Do I have to treat? If I treat, I was thinking of removing all the live rock and inverts from the main tank and treating the main tank with rid-ich (malachite green). Does this sound OK?
And finally, besides looking great, he is not eating yet. He picks at the rocks, and was eating at the LFS, but I cant coax him to eat. I've offered chopped clam, mussel, frozen mysids, Formula 1 and 2 cubes, angel formula, flakes, pellets, Nori (which no-one eats). Is it common for large angels to go on a hunger strike, should I worry, what can I try to feed him?
Thanks, Sorry for the long post
