empty tank pics- with family?!

Just out of curiosity, I noticed many thread with a picture of an empty tank, with people, family, and/or (terrestrial) pets inside. What is the story. When I got my 210, my wife wasn't even allowed to look at it (and especially not the price tag)! I wanted no one and nothing to go near that tank in fear of damge or scratches.
Is tehre some secret code and policy I'm missing! I know its fun for the family, but am I the only paranoid person!? I am guessing the answer will be yes.

Its a great way to get your wife to allow you to go big "honey if we get that 500 gal reef tank I always wanted, I'll take a picture of you and the kids in it", it works every time

Makes it easier to get a feel for the size of the tank like putting a tape next to a frag so you know how big it is,, and it's fun

I think it is cause they have the money to replace it and other half support of the project. Spouse knows it will cost a big bundle and don't care.

They dont worry because you have more water weight than someone who is 115lbs (wife).

yes, but the water does not put all of its weight in a 3' by3' spot like a foot or knee does.

my question is answered- I am not only the most paranoid person in the world, but also the cruelest to my spouse.
