encrusting montipora suggestions needed

I can suggest the sunset monti since that's the only one I have at the moment. And I have no pics of it. There is a great thread of monti pics here tho.

Mine like it at the top of the tank, high light, high flow and with alk 9-10 really starts to take off. I would acclimate, but in the end have it at the top of your reef for best growth and colors.

here's our sunset old pic it's 3times this size now.in a 220gal tank 30in deep 8in off the bottom.

look for a "hologram" ... THATS a cool monti

here is the mother colony (coralfarm123, thanks Ian) that my frag came from

montihologram.jpg

Just picked up a frag of this as well as the sunset monti from Ian recently. Cannot wait for them to grow out. How long has the frag been growing out and how much light? (Not trying to highjack!)

I've had my frag of the "hologram montipora" for about two months now and it's growing great. It just came out of the QT tank and into the grow-out tank, so it's just starting to color up. It's currently under 250 PAR and is barely starting to get the greener base in spots. Really cool piece! I love the half-blue polyps.

The Sanddollar Monti is just a nice all-around piece. It's not a show-stopper, but I love it.

As long as your parameters are stable and within good limits, there shouldn't be a problem keeping Montiporas colored up nicely. I kept Montiporas under PC bulbs for a while successfully, but they definitely colored up better under MH bulbs for me. My QT tank has lower lighting than what I should be using (just got a new setup...haven't installed it yet), so all of my SPS brown out while in QT. But, they color right back up when they go to the grow-out tank. :)
