Energy efficient return pump

Hey all,

I need a reliable, energy efficient (as best as possible) return pump. For the most part, I dont really care what the price is as long as it is worth it. Quiet would be very nice as well. Can be internal or external (I guess internal is preferred), in the 1200-1500 GPH range. Only has to pump against maybe 4 ft of height.

I switched from a QuietOne to a Mag drive pump. The Mag drive is more efficient, but my tank temp has increased by about 5-6 deg F.

well as far as best pump for the money would be a mag. If you want to spend more eheims are very efficent, but quite a bit more.

I like eheims but I cant find any over about 900 GPH.

The ocean runner looks good as well, at this point that is what I am leaning towards. It is a little more GPH than I need but its not that expensive and can always be throttled back.

Ocean Runner by far. More efficient than Eheim or Mag. Much quieter than a Mag and way less heat generation and best of all its less than half the price of an Eheim.

Quiet One pumps seem to be anything but quiet in my experiance with them. I have an Ocean Runner pump for my skimmer and Rio for my return and they're both quiet and energy efficient. If I by another pump though it would definately be an Ocean Runner, great pumps.

Eheim pumps seem to be underrated in their flows. The 1262 pumps more water at 5' head than my Mag 18 ever did.
