Engineer goby in a bare bottom dt.....help!

Will a 9"long engineer goby do well in a bare bottom dt with just live rocks?

He can't topple rocks if there is no sand right?

I don't know if they require sand the way some wrasses do, but they'll do better with it.

Rocks that are stabilized on the bottom of the tank, not on sand. can't be toppled through undermining. That's really a better situation.

my friend has a 7" engineer gobie in his bb display for over 5 years

It would like sand, but you would be hard pressed to stress out an engineer goby - just make sure the rockwork is secure, and you will be fine.
