I just got one from SaltyCritter. Not sure if he is comfortable in the tank yet but he is always hiding under the rocks. Had him for 3.5 weeks now.
I have not heard anything on them that they will destroy anything, so I got him. They look to be ok in the other tanks that I have seen...
He won't destroy it but he will cover any corals that like to be on the sandbed. I lost a nice plate coral because the engineer decided it was time to clean out that are of the tank and shoved all the sand from under the rockwork ontop of the plate.
You have to be sure that your aquascaping is solid and not balanced on the sand but firmly set on the bottom glass. They will dig out under the rocks and cause a rockslide if the sand is holding them up.
That being said, mine has great personality and has never shown aggression toward tank mates. It always draws a lot of comments but most people ask about the "black and yellow eel"
I have an engineer that is about 10". He messes around with sand, but has never rearranged my rock work. He has his special little place where he just chills exposing only about 3" of his body.
