Enough Flow

Well I got the 90 gal in and it is WONDERFUL! I don't know how we ever lived with such small tanks before.

Well now I have two new problems with the tank Micro Bubbles and The one I want to talk about in this post is flow. I designed the tank with 2 pumps a MAG 9.5 return and a Mag 5 closed loop running with a SCWD.

The tank has pretty easy corals in it right now but I would like to add some harder stuff in the future. Currently it has an LTA, Sun Coral, Green Star Polyp, Large Open Brain, and a Pulsating Xeinia colony.

So my question is does the tank have enough flow or should I put in a couple of power heads?

Thanks for all you advice.

I would say it depends on what type of corals you want to keep. If you want to stick with softies and LPS you are fine. If you want to move toward SPS, I would probably increase the flow a bit.
Congrats on the new tank, enjoy!!

Your flow is low. You want at least 10 X gpr to tank. A mag 9.5 is 950 gph when level at input. What is the head? That is what you have to look at. At 4 ft. a 9.5 is 800 gph.

I would leave it until your ready to go sps. Then get rid of the mag 5 and upgrade to a bigger pump. No reason to run 3 pumps or more. 1 return and one nice size closed loop to your likeing will fill in the gap of low flow.
