Entering hour 9 with no power

It snowed over a foot here last night and we have been without power since approximately 3 AM this morning. Thank goodness we have a generator; it is running our pellet stove, my fish tank, and our cell booster/modem. So I can't cook a meal or run water (no power to the well) but I can play with my fishes and surf the web! Something tells me this isn't how the pioneers did it...
