Eric's stand and hood

Well it made it home safely from my Dads. He made this for Eric...aka Pygmy. It is a pretty sweet design. We just gave him an idea and it came out perfect! The tank is a 6 foot 210gal with the sides drilled. So to hide the plumbing he made the total length 7 foot. Six inches on each side for the plumbing. Then added access doors on the side. The hood has the 3 doors for the daily feeding and stuff but the whole front face comes of if you really need to get in there and then the whole top comes off too if you need to get all the way in. It is basically 4 pieces. The stand, the sides...both of them, the hood and then the face of the hood. It measures 7 feet wide, 35 1/2 inches deep and over 7 feet tall. It is really slick! Here are some pictures. I will post more as the staining process goes along.

Yep...even the doors. His real first attemp and they are just as nice as mine that he has a professional build. It is pretty amazing watching him build something. He is always about 5 steps ahead of you. With this he really did not have any plans...just an idea of how it needed to work.

HOLY ****! That is awesome.. Bob how much was it? I am wanting a custom stand/canopy for a 180 Oceanic.

Thanks
Mike

VERY NICE WORK, LOL and I'm a carpenter....I would hate to see the price tag for something like that

I am really jealous, I have been reef keeping for over 8 years and have always been too far from home to take advantage fo the "family resource". I can't wait to see it with the tank in it.

It turned out great. I just finished the last coat of varnish. I will take some pictures of it in the morning when we put it all together. I am going to take step by step put together pictures so I can show exactly how he built it.

Here it is! Finished. These pictures are of 4 different pieces in the order of how the go on. Here is the stand:

I know. That is what I told him. You just cannot buy quality like this. He could whip out a standard stand and canopy like mine pretty easily. But he does not like to work with anything but oak....and then you start to run into the cost issue. So I guess if you are looking for a nice piece of furniture he would be the guy to go to. I have the the proof :)
