I bought a softie coral the other day, it was in a tank with a bunch of corals in it. When I get it home and put it in the tank I look at the rock it was attached to and it has what appears to be a single bud of a black tube coral.

I feed my fish cyclopeeze daily, will the tube coral eat this? Right now I dose with Calcium, Strontium and Iodine, do I need anything else for this?

Also my tank has basically Zoos, a leather, a mushroom and a candy cane coral. Will the black tube coral have any adverse chemical effects on these as I know some are incompatible.

I'd like to try and keep it alive if I can so any advice would be helpful.

Black tubastrea prefers strong water flow, and doesnt care about lighting, as long as algae is not permitted to grow on it. It tends to be more difficult to keep than other Tubastrea species, probably due to the flow requirements.

Cyclopeeze is OK; Ive had better luck with them grabbing mysis shrimp. Feed heavily and often- and watch any deterioration in water quality that can result from that feeding schedule.

Im not aware of any allelopathy in Tubastrea; guess that doesnt mean it doesnt exist... but Ive never seen anything written about it.

If you have all softies in the tank how come you are dosing calcium and Sr and Iodine? You're testing before you do right?

err I dose Reef Complete, which has Calcium and Strontium and I do the Iodine seperately, I assumed I needed the Calcium for my inverts. And I thought Softies need Strontium and Iodine, is that not right? :\
