So I have decided to go away from canister filters and all biological filtration in favor of a sump mainly because I want to add more delicate corals to my tank, currently I cannot due to a sustained low level nitrate level.
Ok so first off I'm upgrading my skimmer, the one I have is rated up to a 60 gal tank (mine is 75) the new one is rated @ 100 gal. I also removed all large bio load fish from the tank.
The sump is on the way (Eshopps RS-100) I already have the Overflow box (PF-300) and the return pump (Lifeguard "Quiet One 3000")
Questions:
What is the best way to connect the PF-300 to the sump? the bulkhead fitting looks HUGE! Are there fittings that will screw onto these threads? should I simply slide PVC into it and glue it in place? if so what glue?
Should I use PVC rigid pipe or flexable tubing?
Will the Quiet one 3000 need to be regulated? will it empty the sump faster than the OVF box can fill it?
What is the best return nozzle back at the tank? a pre formed one or a long PVC with multiple holes?
Any advise is App'd!
Thanks!
