Eshopps protein skimmer + gate valve mod

So I have a ehopps PSk-100 protein skimmer as the title says. It is working very well, but the one thing I do not like about it is the water adjustment is very very sensitive, and I would like to fine tune the skimmer. That's where the gate valve mod comes into play.

Has anyone with an eshopps even skimmer done the gate valve mod?

From what I've seen you have a riser tube then gate valve, T fitting a riser tube and the outflow from the other part of the T fitting.

Does the whole piece have to be the height of the skimmer?

Tagging along, I have the same skimmer and was thinking about this myself.

I performed a modified mesh mod to my sicce pinwheel. I just mashed in the enkamat into the pin wheel, I didn't want to cut the pins. I am seeing an increase in smaller bubble production and more of a smoother air pull then I had with the normal pinwheel. I'll report back at how it does tomorrow. I am hopefully going to go to lowes tonight to fit and buy parts to build a gate valve mod for the skimmer.
