I never owned any of the Hammer/Torch/Frogspawn, but am interested. I have a 30 gallon tall acrylic and have to hand scrub the walls. With the high probability of touching the corals while cleaning is it worth having one. Does every tentacle have stinging capabilities or just the long sweepers?

Lol, some people talk about being stung by the simplist things. My local store owner always claims a sting, but I have yet to find a coral or anemone I can't touch completely. The majority is this way

I've touched a frogspawn I have many many times while cleaning or placing it. I have only once been stung by it and it was pretty mild

yup same here have been stung by bubble coral, frogspawn, hammer and torch. I guess everyone's oain.threshold and physical reactions are different. But in my experience I was able to tell that I touched something but it felt like a minor burn.

I frag zoanthids/palythoas barehanded.. There's always a risk, but like mentioned above, most people aren't bothered by these things. GL.

Thanks, This is helpful. I've always just wrote them off thinking I would be sticking my hand into a bees nest. The way you all talk, it can't be worse than my clown knowing the fleshy part between the fingers hurts the worst when bitten. That little guys is the only fish I've ever had to draw blood. Thanks for the help. There is a deal for colorful frogspawn $5 a head, in my area. I may jump on it.

Yes clowns can be little monsters and as you know, they can draw blood, almost every coral isn't capable of that. I say almost as I'm sure there's a coral out their that can draw blood?

I've rarely felt pain from any corals, but when I had a torch and brushed the inside of my arm against it accidentally, it'd leave welts. It didn't hurt or itch, but it definitely caused a reaction. My Duncan does that to me now also. Everyone's reactions are different... you won't know until you try!
