Euro-reef pump replacement

Hello Jeremy/Jay,

My pump died on my ER 6-1. Is the GenX 1500 needlewheel a good replacement pump? Does it come with the volute/venturi or do I need to use the one off my Sedra pump?

Hi Chris,

I would not recommend using a Gen-X as a replacement on that skimmer. That pump uses a different type of needlewheel altogether. While it does pump move water, it pulls less air and creates less foam. I would recommend going back to the Sedra3500 as the replacement. That will power the skimmer the best. Or you could even try and upgrade to the Sedra5000 with te appropriate needlewheel.

I don't see those on your website. Do you carry them? My next question is should I just upgrade to a new skimmer? I've got a 90g with 35g sump with mostly sps and 2 small fish.

With it being an older 6-1 you could use this pump right here as a direct replacement for it.....
