Hello all - Question for you euro reef users out there.

I just received my RS80 today and have it fired up now. Ordered directly from euro reef.

I noticed upon assembly that the riser tube is not what is depicted on euro reef's website.
Rs80

It came looking like this.....Looks like this

The riser tube that comes stock is just a vertical PVC pipe with a cap. There is no T. You twist this to adjust the water level/foam within the skimmer.

Upon review of euro reef's website i saw that there is a "Foam Level Control Pipe" for the RS80

foam control pipe ]control pipe[/URL]

This link shows what i thought the RS80 looked like. Are these riser assemblys necessary. Do they preform better then the stock riser? Am I totally confused? :) please help

I have the older version without the 'foam control pipe'. all that the pipe is for is to eliminate a few micro bubbles from getting into the sump (they collect and burst at the top of the pipe)
I use the sponge and keep the skimmer far enough away from my return pump so that any errant bubbles don't get sucked up to the display. but it really doesn't produce very many escaping bubbles to begin with.

Thanks rick,

So theres no real difference between running one with the 'foam control pipe' 'sold seperatly' and one with just a vertical pipe 'stock'?

I guess in all the pics if seen of these skimmers they all have this additional foam control pipe connected to an additional T on the output.
