Ever been to this store?

I went their once, livestock is unhealthy and pricing on dry goods is ridicular. To get better pricing I think there is a membership fee.

good marketing, till you step foot in there. i used to go there quite a few years back when d. burr still worked there. it was decent because d. burr was a great guy.

since he left, i have not been back.

yeah the owner is some ***hole asian guy with absolutely no customer service skills. i dont think anyone has ever seen him smile!

I've been there. A friend took me there a few months back. The owner was not a friendly guy. But he wasn't a mean guy, he just stood behind the counter looking unhappy.

They have a large warehouse, but don't use it well. They only have a few racks of dry goods. They have an entire room of just tanks for sale; complete setups with stands and canopies. I loved how they organized their corals. Each tank was for a specific type, Xenia tank, Mushroom tank, Sarcophyton tank, sponge tank, etc. They have a lot of fish however every one of their "fish only" tanks seemed to have a few dead fish in it.

The guy on the floor who assisted me was very helpful and I enjoyed the experience. He actually encouraged me not to get an anemone while i was there because none of them were healthy enough. Imagine that, a sales clerk working in the interest of the consumer! I bought my cleaner shrimp there and he is a healthy specimen.

In general, it's a great place for corals and tanks, not a great place for dry goods or fish necessarily. Their fish selection is huge, (but unhealthy). The owners aren't that talkative.

If you sign up for a membership you get cheaper prices. I'll probably never go there again, it's far away for me in South OC.

wow they have sharks...

Yeah they did!

They had like a 6 foot shark sitting in a 3' tall bin. The bin was about 4 feet across so the shark was bent into a horseshoe just wrapped around the inside of the bin. I felt bad for him, but I was like "Damn, that's the biggest shark I've ever seen in a fish store!" I thought it was fake at first until I saw it's gills moving.

i was just there on sunday... they are ok.. lots of live rock but not a great selection of fish... dry goods prices are CRAZY high...

Its too bad that the owner isn't a hobbyist. A place like that in the hands of the right person could be a real powerhouse.
