Actually, it was a fairly small one (maybe 4" - 5"). DON'T BE SCARED! The bristles can't penetrate latex gloves (powder free of course). Just take precautions or be prepared to have your SO laugh at you!
The warm vinegar soak thing may work: I believe calcium carbonate is a major component of the bristles and a lengthy soak in a bowl of vinegar may dissolve them below skin level.
I take it was rather like walking barefoot on hot pavement: you get started and keep thinking you'll get off onto the grass pretty soon...but meanwhile you want to see how long you'll last.
Well i have a few large enough i decided they needed names. I can't tell them apart unless they come out from their rocks completely so they have all been dubbed FuzzyButt. They are between 7 and 8 inches. I dont think its fear so much as grossed out and not wanting pain. My SO laughs at me the whole time I mess around in my tank becuase i carry a conversation with things in it the whole time. Usually telling things to not touch me.
