Ever keep a pair of melanurus wrasses?

I have a male in my 120, and he basically swims in circles of a small area in the tank. I was thinking about getting a female, but want to see if there has been success before doing it. So, wat do?

I too have a 120 with a Melanurus and a few years ago tried adding a female( so I thought due to coloration) and had disastrous results. The supposed " female " stayed buried in the sand the vast majority of the time except to eat and this went on for a few months until I found (her or it) a better and less stressful home. There was never any aggression between the two but there was plenty of avoidance. Good luck and maybe your results will be better than mine.

Established male melanurus can be aggressive toward new congenerics, even more so toward closer related ones. I would recommend against it.
