Ever seen this?

Another reef dependant
Hi,
I got this large (1 feet wide) Ricordea (?) since last June. Easy to keep, nothing special.
Two day ago, it was less expanded. Yesterday morning, found it with the mouth like half cut. Nothing can do this in my tank containing a clown, a six line wrasse and two shrimps.
Possible issues, but would be surprising:
- Replaced MH lamp (150W) one month ago (was not changed since 1 1/2 year).
- My Monti felt on it about tree or four days ago. The monti had nothing and I think the shroom was ok. I would also think the monti would have been hurt in that case.

I left the MH closed since yesterday to give it a chance.

Any idea? Not just a simple collapse?!!
Tx

Yes, forgot to say it is another possibility. But I'm more on the failing than spliting side these days.
I'll reopen the MH for a few hours tomorow and see. It still not look as bad as it was death.

Good news hearing from you! Still, it's not looking death at all. The mouth has not enlarged since day 1 but a side of the ring is now approaching the mouth. So maybe the process continue. I should get some new pics if you want.
ireefn, did yours take a long time to split?

Well, I'm starting to think it will take at least one month. He is in a special shape, style "unsure what I'm doing but I learn in the process". Not much expanded but not very close to death too. Like "unsure huuu??".:eek1: Make me think of those teens that just don't understand what's happening of their body:worried:... well ok, less coral psycho here. Will wait and see.:twitch:

New pic from today. Not clear on th image but he is all tided up to the mouth. Not sure if I see another mouth.

Hey thanks Scuba Guy. This is always good to know what we have in our tank.:spin3:
Nice to read also that it can sometime cause over population. Three of that size in my tank(33g) and it's over!
