I took mine out so I'm offering the whole setup for $110 OBO. It comes with 4 Cree 6 LED strips, already mounted to aluminum, 3 W per bulb with a pin fin heat sink on the back for extra cool operation. There's a 50/50 mix of royal blues and cool whites for a 14 k look, alternating every other bulb. Optics are 70 degrees which tested best for PAR. 2 Meanwell 700 mA constant current power supplies to drive all 24 bulbs (2 strings of 12 bulbs driven by each power supply). I only ran them for about 3 months so lots of life left on them!

Dave could it be fitted so that they're all actinics and used for actinic supplements? Like could I buy blue LEDs and replace the white ones with blues then mount them in a 4' configuration for my 120? How much are those LEDs? I could probably buy this from you!!

You could but it would be difficult without the right kind of surface mount soldering iron. They are pending at the moment.

Mel you could build an actinic only rig for around $150 and space them to fit you tank if these are sold.

Yeah, but I wouldn't build it myself is the issue. Ding dang.

I have no idea how to do that. I just thought maybe I could take the four pieces and rotate them around to be in one line instead of side by side. Oh well, forget it.

Mel,

If you want to buy the parts I'll build it for you. One of the online LED DIY etailers is selling Royal Blues for about $3.50 a piece right now, look on the other forum. Royal blues are what you want for the actinic look. If you did them every 4" you'd need 18 LEDs for a 6' tank. Every 6" and you'd need 12 which could be driven by one power supply, so it would actually cost you less than $100.

No kidding?!? I'd totally buy that! Would that be blue enough? Wouldn't I need more than 12 for heavy actinics?

You could do as many as about 24 with 2 power supplies. That would be better for "heavy" supplementation.

OK, $3.40 per LED here:

X24 LEDs = $81.60. You'll need optics (or maybe not since you're just using it for actinic supplementation, depends on how wide your tank is, you can easily add them later) for $1.45 each. Now you're really close to $5.00 per LED so it might make more sense to order these with optics included:

That what I was offering and you would get them with all Royal Blue LEDs. $30.00 each X 6 strips = $180.00. You'd need 2 power supplies, non-dimmable here:

Some heat sink compound, a heat sink and a plug. There are several options on the heat sink. If you go with one of theirs 6 heat sinks is going to add up on you quickly. You can also check around to other vendors now that you have an idea of what you need.

Rapid has a 24 LED kit with heat sink for $165. It is just the aluminum channel but seems to work fine with a fan or two which you need anyway with HQI.
