Everyday Fish Food

I use a mix of nls pellets, instant ocean marine chips, and flake food 4 times a day, been this way for 5 years and not one single fish has been sick. My clowns are breeding like rabbits. So im not sure where feeding dried foods are a bad thing.

I make my own fish food, and I rotate each of them. Use all Raw/Fresh ingredients and throw it in a blender then put it in ziploc bags and freeze them. Break off a chunk that will last 2-3 days, melt in a small container (refrigerate after feeding). Big money saver too to make your own - $15 worth of ingredients will last you easy 6+ months if you have a local Asian Farmer's Market.

batch 1 - oysters, clams, seaweed (nori), smelt, shrimp
batch 2 - octopus, squid, brine shrimp, seaweed (nori)

Next round of batches, I will add Spirunila Powder to it. I read good things about this.

This is not an exact science, but each day I would start with flake/pellet first thing (because once your fish eats fresh they seem to turn away flake unless its first thing when they're hungry), then the 2nd & 3rd feeding I would give them some of the pre-made batches (thawed out of course).
My only issue with this would be the mecury content building up in a closed system.
I believe in variety.

My live stock include: pair of clowns, pair of firefish, yellow tail damsel, yellow tang, neon dottyback, and a fire shrimp. All healthy and happy.

I think a variety of high quality pellets, flakes, frozen, nori are all good choices.

I don't understand the flakes are found in the ocean. The ocean doesn't have skimmers, salt that comes out of buckets, variety of filters, etc. Also fish don't have food dumped into them everyday at the same time every day.

Animals in captivity eat different than animals in the wild. What do wild cats eat? Canned cat food?

But the ocean does have skimmers, they are called beaches :D

and for the post above, i dont think their is anything diffrent between the nls pellets and flakes

With two tangs in a 90 gallon tank, Nori or equivalent is essential.

Fair enough. I still support my overall statement. Animals in the wild are gonna have quite a few differences than animals in captivity. I don't think it's bad if you want to go all frozen or you stick with pellets or flakes. I think it's off base to say something isn't good because it's not in the ocean.

I've had good success with Rod's Food. The normal kind is a bit pricey; but it has a good variety. If you don't want to save a few bucks, Rod's Food pacific plankton is cheaper than the normal mix. But, if you're going to feed the plankton, make sure to have a good variety of other foods.

I feed Rod's three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The other days I feed NLS pellets (I don't have any herbivores).
