everyone's next tank

I'm sure everyone here has an idea for a second tank if they had the time, space, money, and patience for it. or a third or fourth or whatever. my curiousity was sparked by Dwayne's curiousity about brackish fish.

I am just curious what everyone else would do if they were to set up another tank. I'll get the ball rolling.

I would like to do a large, 120 gallons or more, either fowlr or just sps corals, with an angel of come sort, probably a emporer angel, a few interesting tangs like a powder blue, powder brown, or an achilles, one or more of the interesting wrasses, I really dig the dragon wrasses, and maybe a school of small damsels or chromis.

if I just wanted a tank that was a little less time consuming I might consider doing a cichlid tank of some kind. I haven't had a freshwater tank in forever but they are neat fish and some are as colorful as reef fish.

what do other people dream about setting up?

The same. I want a large fowlr with every fish I can't have in my reef tank because of those stupid corals. I'd only put a tang in there for algea purposes, something like a sohal. Wrasses, Emporer or Majestic Angel, Butterflies, oh man its endless. . . . . .

I would do a 600 fowlr.just think what you could do with that.or a 540 reef man I could have some fun with either

540 gallon reef? lord, the money for maintenance and lighting would be enough to bankrupt you LOL

I would love a large FOWLR tank. I would get a couple angel fish for my wife. She loves them. I would get a trigger and at least one tang for myself. Half the time my 75 gallon reef is breaking the bank.

I just like to have alot of types of fish so I need more tanks for that. Such as next weekend im setting up another 20 and my 36. Putting a pair of mis-bared clowns in the 20 and a dwarf lion and a swowflake in the 36. Btw, the misbars were at PSP around 2'' for only $18 and I may go back and get them and put them in the qt with the tang.

FYI I am not looking for a brackish tank. The info is needed for my daughter that wants a green spotted puffer. She will not listen to dear ol dad when he recommends that she does not do this and to just go with a freshwater setup that she can afford. When all is said and done this puffer will be a full saltwater fish and is very aggressive.

They had three false perculas. Their bars were way off.

She will love her puffer. Mine never harmed another fish in my "overstocked" tank. Of course mine was a dog faced puffer, I can't speak to all puffers...

I had a green spotted puffer in full salt with my damsel and clownfish and they were all the same size and they didn't fight one bit.

I hope to do a large in-wall tank with a fish room behind it.

This is all a dream for when we design and build our new house.... It won't be for at least 12 years

I want an in wall tank in a seperate room as well, but like you say, it could only be done in a place that you own, unless you have a VERY cool landlord

I have a pair of dwarf puffers. Totally freshwater but also very aggressive at feeding time. They share a 10g with a freshwater bumblebee goby and a couple of otocinclus cats for algae control. The puffers will only eat bloodworms. They seem to eat more than they should be able to.
They are only 3/4" long and about 3/8" wide/tall. My wife loves them because they are so "cute" and they can be in a small tank.

I looked for them for about a year before finally finding dwarf puffers in a LFS. They were about $8 each I think. Best part is no saltwater or any tooth trimming/ snail feeding needed like GSP or South American puffers need.

My next tank is weeks from being completed. I built an in-wall setup with dual 75g tanks, 140g refugium, 55g sump and a complete fishroom behind the wall in my basement by my pool table. I just got the trim done, installed a sub panel, ran a couple 20A circuits, installed a granite countertop/bar and in the process of plumbing everything and installing a sink, with RO/DI and ATO stuff, countertops and cabinets behind the scenes.

The expected cost was about 1/3 of what I have spent already and I still need PVC parts and valves. :eek2:
I will probably post some pics after it's completed.
