everything dying :(

hi everyone im having a issue with all my fishies dying.... anyhow had my system running for about 4months now only had fish for about 2 months... finished the nitrogen cycle... 75g tank with 20g sump.. added 2 baby tank raised nemos a cleaner wrasse and a yellow wrasse... everything good for first 3 -4 weeks then cleaner wrasse dies.... check amonia nitrite and nitrate all fine.... buy another wrasse. a Melanurus Wrasse hes cool for about a week... took back one of the clowns couse they allmost same size as each other and starting to pick at each other a lot i guess to figure out who dominate one is.. around that time started noticing white spots on melanurus so figured ich... didnt have a quarentine tank so i just hoped for the best a week later hes gone.... few days go by and yellow wrasse bit the dust no white spots on him but when i took back the clown i got some big emerald crabs couse i was afraid if they to small the melanurus would kill them... next day after the yellow wrasse gone my clown dead... clown and yellow seemed fine till dead... also noticed emeralds eating dead fish... so is it possible my emeralds are killing my small fish or is it just ich killed them with no noticable symptoms... salinity 1.023 heat78.4f nitrite and amonia 0ppm nitrate 5ppm? is 5ppm high for a fish only tank? also got a top off system for stable salinity but unfortinatlly that came after dead fish....and i know shoulda had a QT tank...........

5 ppm nitrates is fine. imo, the cause of the deaths is most likely ich. once ich's got into the system, every fish in that system will have ich even though you don't see any symptoms on them. in this case, it's best to take out all the fish, treat them(ttm) while fallowing the system fishless for at least 72 days. adding/catching fish without treating will stress them out more. ich+stress= death.

I'm pretty sure at this point you have no fish left? The cost of a QT tank is less than the cost of your four dead fish (FYI). I just set up an emergency hospital tank to medicate a coral for ~40 bucks.

You can have one fish now. I would take everything else not fish out of the tank and go hypo-salinity for 90 days with one fish in there. Emeralds, cleaner shrimp, get em out. I did this on my display when I had my first fish but didn't catch ich in QT, before I added corals. With one fish.

Or you can stare at an empty display tank for 72 days ish.

yeah no fish left. i have 2 emeralds a starfish some snails and thats all, i got a tank in garage i can use for a QT tank but i dont have it running

Let the tank go fallow for 72 days. Then when you get new fish quarantine them first before display thank.

Don't buy anymore fish until the ich is gone. Get the 20g and get some type of medicine to treat ich and keep them in there for 72 days until the ich is fully out

Not if you take cycled media and tank water out of your DT to start your tank.

My first fish was a purple paeduochromis from PetCo. Oops. I qt'd for three weeks no sign of infection, into DT he went. Couple weeks later, white spots started. Ruh roh. Because there were no corals, I could hypo in the DT. I moved all the crabs and snails to the QT tank because I didn't want to catch the fish and lowered the DT salinity to 1.009. Stayed there for 90 days, and the fish looked great. Slowly brought it back up to 1.026 and moved everything back over. Never looked back. You can do the same with one fish so you're not staring at an empty tank for months.

One fish because I can't prove, but assume the hypo affects the bio filter. I never had any problems though.

Disease or parasite came in on one or more of the fish. It's a hard lesson. Try not to make the same mistake twice.

Had to go fallow with mine, learned the QT lesson the hard way. Had my new Tomato's in QT for about 8 weeks. That way when tank was ready, they were ready. I didn't have to QT them for that long, but I was try to get them bonded before adding them to main.
$1 per gallon sale and pet rewards enable me a QT tank for about $20 total, filtration and all. Well worth the money.
