Oh i feel you i had a Rock Crab devour i dont know how many of my corals. he was the size of my pinky nail when i finally got him out this morning he was the size of a quarter. Evil Crab!

Man I guess you guys have bad luck with them..
I have hundreds in my tanks and never have I found them chomping on my corals..

man i watched the little sucker attack one of my bubble coral last night i got seriously stirred up! But i won and he got flushed!

The only thing those guys eat in my tank is coralline. And as far as i'm concerned, they can have it i have too much!

My asterina-like stars have been harmless. However: I jerked a cowry out of my reef though when I caught it inhaling zoas after a mysterious series of 'disappearances'. The dog loved gnawing on that sinister creep.

some are good w/ some are EVIl.. just depends how lucky your are... worst case scenaio.. if you got tons of the evil buggers... employ a harlequin shrimp.. they love these guys.

I only notice them eating zoos that are weak and closed up, that is they have some algae growing on or around them. I think that they target the algae and then end up eating part of the zoanthid, usually killing the zoo which wasn't too healthy to begin with, but might have survived if they weren't chomped on. I'm going to try to handpick out as much as I can and throw them in my sump to propogate, then get a harlequin to clean up the rest in the display. That way the harlequin won't run out of food either.

The tan ones are ok. They eat diatoms. The ones with bluish and reddish speckling eat corals.

Basically you find them on what they like to eat... tan ones on the sides of your tank, and the other ones on your zoas and stuff.

hey Ed i was in there yesterday afternoon around 4:30ish and got that 20k xm really like the color thanks

I cant remember who it was, and the search is not working, but someone else had a tan one eatting there zoas and had a picture with it still in its mouth! I laughed when i first saw the picture....guess it was karma! :D
