Hey Mel were you aware that you have an "Evil Mel's bluetip staghorn acro" How cool are you that people name coral's after you.

Jeez Mell I should have gotten your autograph before I left.

A signed cottage cheese container would have been appropriate...

I have some of those but she wrote MY name on them. I need to take a sharpie to the next meeting:D

Hey I still have a few of those I should hang on to them maybe worth something someday. Ok So really what is the story behind it, I know about the zoas, but how did the others get the name?

I actually gave the mille it's name. Mel traded and sold lots of frags of it. I also traded in a big colony of it at the Aquatic Critter in Nashville when I moved. The colony was later fragged up at an MTRC meeting and the coral was passed around.
I'm guessing H@rry named the blue tip but I'm not sure.

I got a frag of it from Mel at a Nashville (I think) swap a few years ago. When I wanted to list frags for sale I asked her if she minded me using her name for it. She said go for it. It's a pretty fast grower but it's kinda hard for me to get the color right in the picture, this one is pretty close.

Here is the Evil Mel's green mille (some would call it a prostata). I had already fragged quite a bit off the right side in this pic.

Ding Dang...I missed this thread.

Yeah...Harry named it that (as he said). It originated from one of those colonies that Art got on the big concrete plugs. It was as brown as it could be then it started to get this really awesome blue tips. It grows very nicely (it was one of two blue tipped acros I had, the other grew in these giant long thin pieces).

I don't mean for people to name stuff after me...it just kinda happens because when I had my tanks I sold or gave away a massive number of frags and have always given people pretty big frags. Then those people go on to be able to frag it again pretty quickly. I don't know...I'm just really glad that they're still in circulation.

I would like to get some of my zoanthids back since they're bullet proof and I need something like that in this tank.

Chris...the mille didn't grow like that in my tank originally, remember? It was much thinner branched, up until I got that yellow clown goby. After he messed around in it constantly, the branches started thickening and it quit growing as well.

Chase, you and I both know I'm not that cool. Come on!

It's certainly an odd thing, having corals named after you that get spread all over the country. Weird.
