May I ask what made you pick the 35mm 1.4 for your first L lens? What do you normally shoot that you'll have the 35mm on 80% of the time?

Great camera btw. I'm going ff for my next upgrade but may just go with the old 5D for now as I can't justify (nor afford) the price of the new 5DII for my general purpose.

The only problem right now is that it is 10 degrees F outside and there is nothing particularly interesting to shoot inside.

Generally, I take photos indoors. In particular, I have a thing for dinner parties and like to take pictures without a flash. Often times, there is not a lot of light at all nor is there a lot of room to back up to get more into the shot. The camera and lens combo is just great for that. At ISO 3200 and f/1.4 I can get decent looking shots in candle light.

Took some more photos of new corals I picked up this weekend. The nice thing about this camera is that I'm able to crop out a lot of the image to get these shots. 21 MP is a lot of space to work with. Eventually I want to make some large prints of some of these for my wall.

Awesome. Pics 1 and 5 do it for me. 5 is psycho colored but lacking the ultimate crispness of your others. Maybe you sneezed during the 2.59 second exposure?

Hey! It's not nice to induce camera envy in someone who just got such a sweet camera (50D) so recently. That 5D II is a right beauty (Homer drooling smilie here).

I need a L lens or two before I go upgrading my back. By then the 5D III will be out!

What lens(es) do you use most Ryan?

@rbaker - It's a really fun toy huh? I haven't seen you in years. When I'm in NE Ohio next, we should get together and I can show you the greenhouse again. It looks way different I'm sure than the last time you saw it.

@Reef Bass - what does your setup look like?

The 5D is wonderful no doubt. It makes me want to shoot more and more. The problem is, I have a really hard time finding subject matter. My friend says there is beauty in the simplest things, and when I see other people's shots I can definitely see it. Me on the other hand, unless it is exploding or something, it doesn't catch my eye. I never factored in "psychiatric counseling" when I bought the camera in order to get at its full potential. *sob* Why do I hate the world *sob*
