So after having my tank up for 5 months I got my first two fish. It's kinda funny since I put them in, my peppermint shrimp have been out and about more as well ( they usually hide all day).

if the peppermint shrimp are coming out more and more in the day time they may not be getting enough food. they usually come out when lights go down, thou it is possible they are just becoming less afraid...

Congrats on the new addition, and for being patient. Did you quarantine them before putting them in DT?

I did not ( I know I know). The LFS keeps them isolated with meds. I had to wait a week and half before they would let me take them home after I put them on hold so " they could make sure they were eating and healthy". Everything in my tank is from the same store, and since they are my first fish with no risk to infect any others I took the risk.

Congrats on the new additions. Drives me nuts that some people like to always ask if someone QT'd fish lol. Maybe you should have, its all a personal choice, just enjoy the damn fish :D

I didn't know LFS would do that. I will check my lfs. Do they charge you for the QT service?

No that is standard for them. They "guarantee" their fish but that is part of it. They are a LFS / aquarium maintenance shop. Learned a lot from them. They give pretty good advice. Been in there many times when they talk people out of buying stuff due to tank size/ compatibility/ cycle length.
