If they are just trying to capture local sales I think they are going to have a hard time keeping up the revenu. However I would bet they will have some teaser prices when they first open inorder to get some type of customer base.

Mandy, are they going to pretty much do livestock, or are they still going to have tanks and other dry equipment. Their old store is where I got my tank and my fuge.

I am pretty sure they got a great deal on that spot they have. They had a ton of customers from all over they also had a lot of foot traffic. I am pretty sure they made a lot of revenue doing what they did and selling what they sold or else they would not have upgraded like they did. I am pretty sure they made a ton of profit to upgrade into such a size. They also said that they sold a ton of freshwater thats why there freshwater section is soo huge in the new location.

The whole left side I believe is for all drygoods. When I was there, all the displays were on the right hand side and koi ponds were outside.

Aug 25th is the big day. They plan to meet or beat anybody's prices and will be willing to work with us on volume discounts if we pay cash, but not ready to do 10% on individual sales at this point.

The largest west coast fish shop thats got to have some benefits to being that large but it really depends on management i price corals all day at aqua life givin discounts on livestock makes me have to raise to price on the corals to help cover discounts remember an aquarium really doesnt make much on livestock i say let the prices be low if its low accept it without a dicount

I checked it out this morning 10:30 am. There's a lot of empty tanks, and no salt water stuff. Just some fresh water and a lot of discus. Cashier said it should all be up by Sept.2nd.

Yes, it took a little longer to get things ready. Sat Sept 2 is the official opening. Timothy is setting aside 50 bags of IO salt for MARS members on opening day. You must show your current Mars membership card and talk to Timothy to get a free bag of salt.

I was told they will have all the freshwater livestock in a couple weeks and all the saltwater livestock by the end of September. They have a pretty good selection of drygoods, many more tanks than other stores.

Just visited today and had a quick conversation with the new manager. He was very personable and even discussed a few business plans for the new location with myself. It's good to see Exotic hiring someone who actually knows how to efficiently run a business as he has an extensive background in retail as well as management. He stated that livestock quaranteen and customer service are going to be top priorities-something that I feel is long overdue. It definitely seems like they are off to a good start.

Btw, if anyone is into discus, Exotic has some great price points on their livestock at the moment.

Me and my girly just got back from Exotic and all I can say is WOW! :eek1:

The store is absolutely huge! Not much livestock in there right now, but like others have said the owner says there will be some stuff in a few weeks. I can't wait to see the store all stocked up, it'll be a sight to see. Great selection of tanks and other dry goods, and they even have a carpenter on site for any custom stuff you might want. Future plans include a giant outdoor koi pond with a coffee shop with wi-fi. Sweet.

The owner is incredibly nice and even gave us a little tour. There's a big area in the back that will have quarantine tanks. He says any livestock that comes in will be put in to quarantine for 1-2 weeks to ensure it's healthy before it goes on display for sale.

There were 4 big tanks in the back that are going to be for self serve liverock. The owner said he was going to get the widest variety he can and match or beat anyone else's prices.

lol, you'd think I owned stock or something with this review. I assure you though, I'm just a very impressed noob.

Definitely going to be amazing when it's all up and running.
