expansion module

The expansion module will connect to the I/O port of the controller and uses a proprietary protocol. The expansion box will come with a 5' cable. The maximum length hasn't been tested yet, but it likely not be more than about 10 to 15 feet.

Curt

I hope you guys can figure out a way to control speed on powerheads! That would make the box a lot more valuable. :)

When you say 6 digital inputs do you mean we no longer have to build a box with the mono plugs for the digital inputs? It will be a plug and play type thing? If so, what size and type (stereo, mono) of input?

The expansion box uses the same connector (minidin 8) as the AC3 or AC3Pro for the inputs. A break-out box with screw terminals for connecting inputs to the I/O connector is in development.

Curt

So if we use the minidin 8 on the ac3 unit, we will have to use the expansion box for any existing inputs we use instead of the one on the main unit?

I'm looking at purchasing a Neptune controller, and I have a question. When you say "digital input", is that just an input that can handle/monitor a very simple normally open or normally closed circuit and then you can make programming rules based on the state of the circuit, or is it something else? I guess I may be confused by the word "digital".
Thanks,
Brad

exactly

Since the expansion box is already in production, how about some teaser pics? That may help answer some questions people may have.

If you build the tunze controller i'll dump my acjr and go with all the bells and whistles!!!
Since it cant as of now i'll have to go with tunze's controller.

Curt,

Does this module work with ACIII Pro? Can you post some pictures showing how the display(on ACIII and ACIII Pro) will handle the additional information?

I already have a serial cable made for three inputs for my ACIII Pro, can I use the same serial cable on this expansion module?

Thanks.

When in the run display the Up botton toggles between the probe reads of the base unit, and expansion modules. In AquaNotes and on the controllers webserver the status portion of the display is expanded to:

Jun 24 2006 00:08:41
Tmp pH ORP
79.7 6.06 019
TmpA pHA ORPA
79.7 6.06 019

The expansion module will work on the AC3 or AC3PRO.

One more question:
How does the expansion module interface with Aquanotes? as an additional tank?

Thanks.

They show up as additional probes on the same tank.

If you I/O cable works w/ the AC3 or AC3Pro it will also work with the expansion box.

Curt

Hey Curt!

Just thought I'd throw my two cents in: It would be great to control electronic pumps w/AC3Pro!

Maybe for rev 2 you would consider TCP vs RS232? This one will be good for monitoring Calcium Reactor effluent or second tank sitting close to the first, but for those of us with additional tanks 100 ft or so away...

Thx -E

Yeah man...go wireless for God's sake! I want to see my router smoke.

ericandchrissy aahhhh, Chapman. I need a little light reading before bed-time! :D
