ExpensiveHobby's 60 gallon CHALICE PALACE

After slowly accumulating chalices and other corals in my innovative marine Fusion 30L tank I decided it was time to upgrade and go in a different direction. Maintaining a mixed SPS/LPS/softy tank is just too hard. Too many corals with different requirements. Feed to heavy and the SPS suffer, Feed too light and the LPS starve.

So what I decided to do was go species only. All Chalices. In order to create a an environment suitable for this I had to add lots of fish, I only had 3 in my old tank. Also I started feeding heavily, running my lights very low intensity. I also skim and run GFO sparingly.

got a bunch more large sized pieces in, rearranged some stuff too. I wish I had a good camera to take pictures and video. My sony cybershot cannot handle Blue light at all.

Love the plugs on the glass, do you think they will grow out completely ??

did you get the idea somewhere or are you just trying something new !?

If coraline algae grows on the back glass, the chalices on those plugs may attach to it. It would be great to have a back wall covered with mixed chalice corals. Is that somewhat the plan? Keep pics and videos coming on this thread for years to come. I am subscribing. BTW, the video quality was good.

I got the idea for the magnet frags from my friend who does this with his plating montis. The chalices, like his montis, dont get the chance to stick to the glass because every few days I physically move them so they dont have time to attach. Im actually breaking this tank down this week, i upgraded to a 130 gallon custom tank (4'x3'x16"). Ill post some pictures/videos of how it turns out

Beautiful chalice. Curious to hear how well the fish get along. Firefish with chromis and clowns sounds like a bad plan, along with the PBT, but they all seem fine and active. Still got a pack of chromis instead of one or two. Don't see that often. Any trick, in your opinion?
