What are your experiences? I am looking for something that will school together. They seem to stay tight in holding tanks at the lfs. Do they separate out into pairs over time? What about jumping?

I'd say they are jumpers for sure..I have only had experience with these fish at work so they may behave a little different after established but my experience is they tend to hide a lot. Or at least when anyone approaches the tank. We had a group for months because they hide under a rock most of the time..Again, they may behave differently once established

I have one, my friend has one, and another friend has two. We all bought them together. Mine is always out in the open playing with other fish.

My friend that has two show the schooling behavior, but they do split off and seperate throughout the day also.

i had 4 but one jumped out even though i had an eggcrate over it. I love this fish. My trio always swim together and when its night time, all of them go rushing to there little home underneath the mushroom colony.

i had a group of 5 that always stuck with each other..and they are for sure jumpers and eggcrate will not hold these guys in you need a glass or acrylic tops for these guys..i use a mesh netting for my top and the holes are smaller than eggcrate and i bought one and it was a larger one and it made it through..but other than that they are very cool fish to keep..if i had a better top i would keep a group again

I've got a fairly open top. Are they as bad or worse than firefish for jumping? What about digging. I can't stand a digger.

I had one when I first started years ago. I wound up taking it back to the LFS. It would only come out to eat and then dart back under the rock.
