Experiences with ''other'' chromis

Do people have the same problems with species, like the black bar and vanderbilts chromis that they do with the green? I am questioning the tendency of green chromis to oick each other off until one or a pair remains. Thanks In Advance.

I have kept Vanderbilt's chromis. They are a little more aggressive with each other then green chromis. I would keep them seperated during quarantine but in the main system they didn't have any issues. In a larger system (120+) with alot of current they will be fine with each other.

I have also had luck with the Chromis nitilda (Spelling?) the barrier reef chromis. They have been good together and not aggressive. They are exspensive though 35-50 a pop

When you guys say green chromis do you mean the Blue/Green? I am looking into getting a school of these. Are they really that mean?

They are nice to the other fish, but are not usually able to be kept in groups by most people. They are the Chromis viridis and the do appear as shimmery blue/green.

I had some chromis retrofasciata a while back and they weren't aggressive at all, best chromis I ever had and they are unusual also I haven't seen some available in a long time would of took them instead of my blue greens

I wonder why everyone chooses the green chromis, when all of the others seem so much morer peaceful, are often smaller, and seem to be better schoolers. I guess people like the color better, though I personally find the others more attractive.

I believe some of the best damsels as far as looks and tempermant are rarely imported. The damsels you regularly see tend to be the more aggessive variety (Fiji Blue Devils, Dominos etc.) I usually have to ask for specific damsels I want or find them by chance in an LFS
