Expert help needed w? gigantea.

I have had this anemone for approx 3 months. It has been in good health and eating 3 times a week. I only had 1 maxi1200 in a 3 foot 60. All looked well aside from low tentacle density on the oral disk. I increased flow with 2 more maxi 1200 on a red sea wavemaker. @days later the anem shrunk and moved. Tentacles look shrivled and he does not look happy. Any ideas? should I decrease flow-the anem is not getting beat up. Ammo-tiate-trite all 0 ph is sloid 8.3 nd temp swings 1.5-2 degrees(always has).

It's a drastic change to him, and he is getting used to the change, and he is also finding a new 'home' that is comfortable to him.

I cant offer much advice here, but Ill offer this.. I really believe that strong flow is good, but I also believe that a rest from that strong flow is also a large benefit. Im not sure that too much constant flow is an issue here, but can you hook those powerheads to a timer/wave maker so the water nearly stops every once in awhile? Or better yet, set up a couple of surge tanks

Whats the temp like?

Is the lighting still the 175s? WHat K? what ballast? what bulb? how deep is the tank?

What are you feeding it? Are the pieces large or small?

Does the anemone host clowns?

Is this in a garden reef? or its own separate tank?

Are/were those maxi-jets pointed directly at the nem?
(maxi-jets have a pretty concentrated stream instead of a wide dispursed strong flow.

The maxis blow over not on him. Looking better today. lights are 1 400 watt 20k and 1 250 6.5k. Temp 80-82. They run on a red sea wavemaker. i feed a bunch of small pieces of shrimp, scallops, silversides, clam. It hosts a true perc since day 1. In a tank w/ zoas but does not come in contact. I run carbon in a reactor and uv. Thanks. I would like to set up a surge but do not know how to make it look good.

It's not going to be flow - giganteas live in the surf zone in most places. Did you change anything else? Lights? Type/quality of food? Tankmates?

Watch the food you feed it, especially if you feed raw seafood. There is strong anecdotal evidence that suggests if you feed bad (i.e. rotted) food that the anemone can suffer.

Nothing else has changed. The mouth is nomal. Is it possible the anemone shrinks to move so It does not get beat up by surf. i only feed fresh sefood. IQF scallops.

Detached and is in the sand now. I guess I will wait and see. The mouth is closed though.

Got any pictures? I doubt flow is the issue like Bonsainut said. Giganteas can take an immense amount of flow.
