Explosive growth and RTN at same time

What can cause this? I have great growth on all my sps 70 of so differnt pieces. 3 days ago I had 1 start to RTN. I just noticed a second 1 this morning. I measure my parameters 2 times a wweek and keep a log all is stable. I parameters are at the bottom of posts by the way. Color and growth r great. What could cause this? Yesterday I threw away all already made water cleaned all my water storage barrels. Added all new filters in my Rodi just in case. Is there something I can look for?

Checked graphs on apex. All is good. I did have a temp spike but it was only to 80.5 deg from 77.5. My lights are on a temp cut off so temp didn't get any higher. I will slowly raise low end of temp to 78 or 78.5 for the summer so the swing won't be so much. Could that be it? It was only for an hour or so then all went back to normal. I turned on the ac in the house.

My ORP dropped to 270 the day the coral started RTN I figure it was the coral dieting that caused it? Went back up over 300 in 6 hours or so. That seems its normal spot for my tank. I currently don't run ozone. Should I look into it? Will it stop RTN? I don't think so just looking for anything to stop this. I think I will dip that coral in revive right now.:bigeyes:

Growth has been insane the last month and still is on all other corals.

Help any ideas? Something I haven't thought of?

hey roger, was talking w chris yersterday, as im having some of the same issues, put the chlormine block on as a extra safeguard, but he asked me about ph swings, as i was still running my itech 100 on the new dsa 105, ph was barely able to get to 8, so i hooked up my itech 200 and strated running cheato in my sump w reverse lighting, ive always had low ph issues due to house being tightly insulated, ran fresh air line outside for skimmer.

well my ph used to have issues but I solved them last year ran the skimmer line out to the garage and I have a CO2 scrubber on top of that. I also setup kalk to dose during the lights out period on a peristaltic pump so the same about is dosed every lights out period to help keep ph up.

looking over the graphs again the temp drop was around the same time I noticed the RTN but the 77deg mark is what I kept the tank at all winter and did great. but that high temp a day or so before wasn't happening in the winter.

RTN oh yes, been there.
From my experience, can be ph swings, which a calcium reactor and a fuge on reverse lighting should fix.
Can also be overdose of alk or calcium when dosing, which is why I use a calcium reactor.
GFO and too much GAC can also be a cause, which is why I use a fuge.
I run a 1/4 dose of GAC since I have a mixed reef and it helps absorb territorial toxins and odors.
Changes in lighting intensity is another potential cause.
Buy or rent a par meter to identify your sweet spots for your various corals.
Mark them down on a drawing or picture of your tank.
I also use ozone set at 360 in my skimmer air input.
I find my tank overall look and health to be better with orp levels around 380-400.
