Extended QT question

I have a 10g tank that I would like to setup as a QT for my baby clowns that I got from Rod. They are too small for my main tank so I want to put them in the 10g for a couple months.

My question is, will my small aqua clear bio filter work for this? My plan would be to have the 2 or 4 clowns in the tank and do frequent 1g water changes from the main tank.

Method: Remove 1g from QT and dispose, Remove 1g from Main tank and put in QT, Place 1g fresh salt water into main tank.

Would the clowns be able to make it a month or two in this tank?

Would I need a light for the tank?

Thanks,

All you need is a filter that wont suck the fish in and a heater. I would recommend a light over them as all life needs some kind of light one way or another. I have a light, heater, filter if you need to borrow. LMK Ben

Would a light like my fuge light work? I would just plug it in to the same timer with my daylight bulbs.

Ben, Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on the filter if the opinonis that the Aquaclear 30 will not work.

Honestly that light would work if you have no other options and the Aquaclear 30 will work just fine!!! Its rated for a 30 gallon tank. Just make sure there is a few rocks in there for them to hide under and that the filter isnt making to much of a current but I dont see that with that filter.

I might recommend plastic caves instead, that way they can be used for future QTing and can be throughly cleaned in between, just make sure to put something around the intake (foam or mesh) if it looks like a baby could get sucked up
