Extension tubes

I'm thinking of getting an extension tube. I have a Canon XTi with a 50mm 1.4, 17-85mm and a 100mm Macro. Should I spend the $ on a extension tube or should I buy something else? I want to get better macro shots of not only corals but I've been taking close up shots of flowers and insects. Any information will help.

Mahalos,

cool, then if you want to get closer than that is what you want (or a longer focal lenght lens with the same min focusing distance). They are basically just spacers between the lens and the sensor since there is no glass quality really isn't an issue. Just be sure you get one compatible with your camera so the metering and such still work. I think I got the kenko set for like $120 or something from B&H.
