External pump -Panworld 100PX-X

I have a line on a 1 yr old PW 100PX-x, 1270gph at 5' head for $110.00. on my 180 that should be about right, since I run a QO 6000 now as the return, but I am looking at running an external pump. Thoughts?

Isn't that the pumps that were at the swap? I have a brand new one if it is that I have not used yet. I know I have heard good things about them but no experence with them.

They are a copy of an Iwaki pump, So IMO that's not a bad thing for they are great pumps. But I also have no first hand Exp either. Are you thinking of just your return or a manifold also? For return only flow is sufficient but not much extra to run Accessories! But I'm assuming and you know what that does......

I was thinking about selling one of my big pumps but was unsure which one I have 2 hammer heads and then that one. I think that will be a little more then I will need for my tank.

Yessir Bill, you have it correct. I am only thinking of return. I can get a brand new Dolphin 4500 for 140 bucks if I needed more If anyone needs that let me know and I wills et up up, but it will not stick around long.

I found a brand new one on here someone was selling for a great price so I jumped on it. I am planning on using it for the return for my 180 as well but I haven't run it yet so I can't really give any feedback one way or the other.

Ive got one as my return and one as my skimmer. Great pump, very quiet.

DO they have threads on the inside of the pipe as well, or just the outside?

OK one last question:

the 100PX-X has 1270gph and the 500PXX is at 100gph. Other than the slight flow difference, the only thing I see different is the power usage: 130w vs 90w. Anyone know of any other demonstrable difference? Cost difference is about 20 bucks.

Man, the more I think about this, the more I think I need a bigger pump. I am geting roughly 750-900gph out of my QO now. But the Panworld drops off to around 600gph at 6' head.

I will be splitting off that 1" to a 3/4" T to feed both sides. Vertical is about 6' each side. So if I add 25% head pressure for that, it brings me up to 9-10 feet. Then add that I will be sinking flex tubing over the side of my sump for the feed/inlet. A small 10 inch wall to go over. Im not frilling the sump...too much involved.

Is there error in my logic?

I was thinking about replacing the mag 12 on my skimmer with one of the panworld 100 px-x pumps, or a Gen-X pcx40. Let me know what you think of it if you get one. If anyone has a used one they want to get rid of, let me know the price.

It might be ok for your skimmer. I opted to stick with my QO 6000 because it acutally performs better. The 100PX-X I would have to drill my sump and thats jsut not going to happen without having to take the tank down to get it out.

Instead I bit the bullet and got a Tunze skimmer pump 9420 for my I-Tech.

Andy, sounds like you need to bite the bullet and re-setup so you can have a remote sump. Let me know what time you want me to come over this weekend to get going on it.
