Eye in the rock

Hello all. My tank is approximately 6 weeks old now and doing quite well. Some pineapple sponges are growing on the rocks and all seems to be well. My tank perimeters are perfect that is 0 all the things that should be 0. Clownfish are thriving . I noticed the other day that there was a strange looking bubble in a small whole in one of the rocks and today 2 more are noticeable. They look almost like a glass like half sphere. Sort of like a mini contact lens. Do my eyes deceive me or is this a critter? Maybe some kind of tunicate ?:uhoh3:

Is bubble algae part of the maturing process like diatoms and go away or will I have to deal with it?

Well both is the answer to your question.
Bubble algae is part of the process but IF that's what it is you probably don't want to let it get away from you too far.
On the other hand, could be any number of things.
Might be some sort of egg, for example? What are the members of your clean up crew?

(+1 to pictures! They take this from a blind guessing game to something we might actually identify)

If it is bubble algae, its invasive and problematic. You don't want to pop the bubbles. That can help spread them worse. With proper housing they can go away in time.

I'm getting a picture. I don't have a clean up crew. The only thing in the tank besides the rock are 2 clowns. Don't want to add anything to this tank quite yet. I am a cautious girl. I need to think through things before I act.

Looks like bubble algae to me. If you don't like it, just pop the bubbles with a needle and siphon them out with your next water change.

Thanks to all. I've removed that rock once to zap apitasia. It's an evil rock. It's coming out of the tank permanently. I'm tired of messing with it.
