Eye Sore

When i add this chem clean stuff do i turn off my protein skimmer or keep it running. Does it tell you this stuff on its labels?

My break-in Cyano is finally gone after about a year and a half. Fresh bulbs, limiting the amount of time with my lights on, cutting down to the right amount of feeding, have all helped

I use chemi-clean too. Works wonders! Make sure you follow the directions carefully. Red slime algae is normal for a new cycling tank but can also be caused by excess nutrients. If your tank is established, then cut back on feedings.

would that two little fishies reactor work good. or what would you reccomend

All those reactors are essentially the same and work on the same basis...I have one of those Two Little Fishies reactors and I also have a couple of Kent reactors...and they are both good, though I prefer the Kent a little because of the configuration of the inlet and outlet setups.

Re the Chemiclean...you turn off the skimmer when you treat the tank with the Chemiclean...let everything else run for 48-hours and then do a 20% water change (all according to the instructions.) Then, put the skimmer back on. Sometimes, when the skimmer is put back on there's a lot of foam created...That's normal.

If, after all of these suggestions, you still have cyano issues, be sure to check your water flow. I've noticed that cyano can seem to pocket itself in areas where there is very low flow. Sometimes, simply adding an extra powerhead or adjusting your returns can be a quick, and easy fix even if nothing else works.

one thing i do know that i have alot of flow in the tank... because thats what everyone said to do first was add powerheads well lets says i got 2 by the sand on each end 3 above the rocks and

ok other protein skimmer is up and running so hopefully that will help.. i one of the phosphate reactor (two little fishies) at the house but i dont have a pump to run it :( so all in time... I tested my water and it was WAY OUTTA Wack for some reason... so i did a 20 gal water change thinking about doing another 20 here in a few days after i test it again...
