Fairy and Flasher Wrasse coloration

SINNERMF

It is my understanding that the males of Fairy and Flasher Wrasses have the best color. I have heard that if you do not have a female in with a male, the males colors will not be as bright and colorful and may even fade. Is this true?? I was also wondering if you can house different species of Fairy and Flasher Wrasses in the same tank, and if you can is there limitations on certain species and how many??
Thanks,
Mike

Fairy wrasses that are basically blue or similar color such as Solar, Scott's, Blue Scaled, all of the Temminick's, and exquisite will lose the most color. It is not clear that a SINGLE female is enough to keep the color matrimonial. Rhomboid, Pyle, Pink Margin, Goldbar, yellow flanked, will lose some color but minimally so. Flame, Social, Conde, Lineatjus, ellowfin, Lubbocks Rosy fin (bathyphilus) will lose the least. You cannot mix two males of the same fairy wrasse species. Having two males of morphologically similar appearance is difficult but not impossible (such as lineatus and pyles or red margin). In general fairy wrasses ignore other fairy wrasses and flasher wrasses. Occasionally spats will occur but they will not be serious. Introduction of new species should be done with social isolation for a couple of days.

O yea, what kind of "reef fishes" will they not get along with? (tangs, gobies, dottybacks......) I met a guy that had a Pacific Blue Tang that killed a couple of his wrasses.

radiant wrasse is not a fairy, but should be fine with them. dottybacks, 6-lines, 4-lines, scarlets, mysteries, will all pose a problem for fairies.
