The shapes of caudal fins in males of these two localities are almost same. When the fin is spread it is rounded and the upper and lower tips are pointed, while when it is folded it looks like a lunate one.

Upper left male from Australia, and 2&3 males are from Vanuatu.
(4&5 show a new species from Fiji)

C. bathyphilus is found only in Australia (northern GBR), Chesterfield Bank, near New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

4 (male) and 5 (young male or large female) is apparently an undescribed one from Fiji and Tonga that will probably be named soon. It has a prominent black prolongation from the first dorsal fin that bathyphilus does not possess.

Good god bigdee65 where in the world do you get your fish. You have some of the nicest specimens of each type of fish you have that I have ever seen.

That solar is gorgeous as are your anthias.

Thanks CeeGee :D

I get them from a few different sources but I try to keep my fish as healthy as possible by feeding multiple times a day and I add Vita-Chem, Selcon and Garlic to the frozen foods each day.

The Lyretail Anithas I got from LiveAquaria and I have some other fish from them as well

My Labouti and Potters I got from the same local guy that heuerfan got some of his guys from.

The Solar I got from another local guy and he was the first wrasse I added to my tank about 4 months ago :D

Thanks again for the kind words!!!

The store name is NYAquatic and its located in lower Westchester, NY. It's a startup that specializes in fish and if I remember correctly he does ship around the country. His prices can't be beat and he is always getting in amazing fish!

I believe he is working on a website right now but you can check him out on the Manattan Reefs website:

thanks for the web site...

I didn't see a price list or stock of HI Flame wrasses..

do they normally carry them? if so, how much do they run? male? female?

also.. do you guys know what's going on with Brian over at Twilight Aquatics? I e-mailed him twice but haven't gotten a response.. maybe he's out on a dive?

Thanks
Marvin

Brian seems to be so busy with his descriptions of some new spp. including a new Cirrhilabrus from Japan and Taiwan.

Do you know what he collected on his most recent trip? Do you anticipate when he will be updating his site?

well i lost my C. roseafacia a couple of weeks. she just disappeared. my mystery wrasse didnt care for her much so maybe she just got fed up and moved on. i was really disappointed because she quickly became my favorite wrasse.

well last weekend my ac in my apt. went out and i lost 90% of my corals, my rhomboid, solor, and mystery wrasse. ( i know this is really bad to say but i wont miss the mystery:( )

the only wrasse that made it through was my pin tail wrasse (thank goodness cuz i believe he would've been the hardest to replace)

anyway, made a special trip to l.a. today (thats 2 hrs away) and i found another roseafacia. she/ he is much larger than the last and i hope as personable. no mystery wrasse so hopefully nobody to pester/ harass the new addition. wish me luck

mr tanaka, i was wondering how do you sex them?
