Fake urchin?

Hi I want to make a few fake urchins and would like to use skewers cuz of the length. Does anyone know what type I should use? I see plastic, wood and metal. I am looking for plastic but figured I should double check since I can't find much info. Thanks [emoji16]

I used plastic weed wacker line stuck in a clump of epoxy putty.

Those gimp things that kids make bracelets out of or some use straws stuck in a styrofoam glass ( the bottoms up) with a rock inside the cup to hold it down.
But the epoxy clump is a really good idea I hadn't seen that before.

I'd advise against metal, since it can leach into the water. Wood covered in epoxy is something I've seen. You could also try using zip ties stuck in epoxy, I've seen that done before too. I don't know too much about plastic, so won't comment on that....

I made one using a small piece of live rock and put a heap of zip ties round it. Just tied em to the rock

That would have been so much easier lol darn it well if I fail at doing the others I'll give that a try
