I had to tear down my system 2 weeks ago to get the remaining 5 (out of 9) fish out of my system due to an Oodinium breakout. Sadly it took 4 of my fish before I could get them all. The 5 are now in QT going through treatment
Anyways, I got the reef back up and running that same night. The system has been without fish for 2 weeks now, and will be for at least another 8 weeks. I have also removed the filter sock as to keep some organics in the system (not sure if that makes a difference or not).
I have been feeding Coral Smoothie once a week. Before that I was feeding a few times a week with Both CS and Brightwell products.
Is once a week with CS enough to sustain the corals (mostly SPS)
Should I shut down the skimmer during this fallow period? It is producing minimally now with no fish in the system.
Maybe newb questions, but I've never, in all the years in the hobby, had a reef without fish (lucky maybe?)... this is my first time ever having to do anything like this.
System is in my signature, and all water test levels are within spec.
Thanks,
/D
